Ian's Own Technique
Priority for Integrity Technique
This is a method of care that is a compilation of many techniques. It is a method of asking the body what it would like to have done to it in order to improve the integrity of the nervous system and therefore the function and health of a person. It utilises manual muscle testing to diagnose when the body needs gentle adjusting of the bony segments of the body, balancing electromagnetic fields, the acupuncture meridians, emotional states and specific nutrients. For the technically minded it draws aspects of its procedure from Applied Kinesiology, Applied Physiology, Activator Methods, Neuro Emotional Techniques, CBP, Diversified, Gonstead, Thompson Technique and others.

Applied Kinesiology (AK) |
Applied Kinesiology (AK) is a form of diagnosis using muscle testing as a primary feedback mechanism to examine how a person's body is functioning.
Diversified manipulation/adjustment techniques may be used with nutritional interventions, together with light massage of various points referred to as neurolymphatic and neurovascular points. When properly applied, the outcome of an AK diagnosis will determine the best form of therapy for the patient. Since AK draws together the core elements of many complementary therapies, it provides an interdisciplinary approach to health care. |
Gonstead Technique |
This is a specific chiropractic technique and is a variation of the Diversified technique that utilizes manipulation/adjustment by hand that usually results in joint cavitation. X-Ray analysis, palpation, and temperature gradient studies may be used in clinical decision-making i.e., what segment(s) to manipulate/adjust. |
Diversified Technique or Full Spine Specific (FSS) |
This is a widely used type of chiropractic manipulation/ adjustment that includes most of the procedures taught at chiropractic schools. This Technique is the most commonly used of all chiropractic techniques and is the one probably most familiar to patients. The Diversified Manipulation/ adjustment entails a high velocity, low amplitude thrust that usually results in a cavitation of a joint (quick, shallow thrusts that cause the popping noise often associated with chiropractic manipulation/adjustment). As the name implies, the diversified Technique can be used to treat many of the joints in the body. |
Thompson Technique
(Drop Tables) |
This is a specific chiropractic method and is a variation of the Diversified Technique that uses a special table with several segments called drop pieces. These segments can be cocked up a fraction of an inch, so when the thrust is delivered, the table will drop this fraction of an inch. The drop pieces assist the thrust while minimizing the force used for the manipulation/adjustment. Cavitation of the joint may or may not occur. |
Activator Method |
This is a hand-held, spring-loaded instrument-based manipulation/adjustment protocol. Instead of the manipulating/adjusting forces being delivered by hand, force is generated with the small appliance that delivers a lighter, but quicker, thrust than can be delivered by hand. Activator can be used as a primary treatment protocol for all patients or a selective method for patients who may not desire manual manipulation/adjustment or where manual manipulation/adjustment may be contraindicated. |
Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) |
Emotions are part of a natural, healthy response process we have to virtually every situation we encounter. Sometimes challenging emotional experiences and physical vulnerabilities create lingering stress in our mind-body architecture. Such stress can contribute to physical complaints, emotional difficulties and problems with goal achievement. The neuro Emotional Technique (NET) is a powerful intervention that can assess and alleviate the internal stressors that are creating barriers to health and success. | |
